The main idea behind it all was to create a site that I wished I had found many years ago when I was attempting to get into pipe smoking; a site that would provide informative content about the hobby, as well as helping me in the decision-making process for future acquisitions.
Back when I had only a few pipes and was looking to expand my collection, I searched various online stores and was staggered by the sheer amount of choices available on the market today! Although I now love that variety about the Pipe World, at first I found it quite daunting to decide what pipes and tobaccos to buy. Over the years, I've accumulated a pretty decent pipe collection and tobacco cellar, and I've learned a good bit through trial and error.
Although I have learned the kinds of pipes I like, I've also spent a lot of money on pipes that I didn't. I wish I hadn't wasted money on lower quality pipes that sometimes were the same amount of money as better pipes I could have bought instead. And as things progressed, there were times I spent way more than I ever thought I would on a single pipe, only to find that the extra expense didn't necessarily buy me a better smoking experience. It would have been so nice to have found a website that could have guided me in my purchases a bit more.
I want The Pipe Nook to be that informative website for others just getting into pipe smoking, as well as for those who are looking to build their pipe collections from a handful of pipes into something more. Pipe collecting can be a fun hobby, but it can also be an expensive one. My site is designed to help thin the herd of choices out there today.
New and nearly-new pipe smokers can find helpful information in the "Pipe Smoking Tips" section of the blog page, including tips for how to smoke a pipe, as well as pipe tobacco recommendations. I've found what I believe to be the "sweet spot" for pipes where the best possible quality meets the best possible value, and I carry only pipes from companies that I feel best exemplify that area of the market. It's a very good place to begin your pipe smoking or pipe collecting journey. I carry only pipe brands that I personally smoke and enjoy, from companies that I can stand behind based on my own experiences as a pipe smoker.
